Sir Giles Gilbert Scott's iconic red K2 telephone box has been voted the greatest British design in a survey conducted by Samsung and Kingston University. Scott's design was introduced across London from 1926 onwards and many examples can still be seen in the capital today.

Hot on the telephone box's heels is the Routemaster bus, followed by the Union Jack, the Spitfire and the Rolls-Royce. The Mini made two appearances in the list of the top 25 designs, in the shape of the Mini Cooper and mini skirt. Automotive and fashion designs are prevalent among those celebrated on the list, but more conceptual designs like the DNA double helix also made the cut.

The survey was led by Professor Catherine McDermott, an expert in contemporary design from Kingston University. McDermott created a long list of designs with a panel of judges, which was then voted on by 2,000 people from across the country.
