This week, the Emmy Award-winning TV show Facing Life Head-On features leaders in the National Black Pro-Life Coalition – including Dr. Alveda King of Priests for Life and Ryan Bomberger of The Radiance Foundation – who share incontrovertible evidence that black genocide remains a reality in America.
Dr. Alveda King, niece of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., shares her gripping personal story of finding healing after two painful abortions. She spoke with host Brad Mattes at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, Ohio:
“I was in bondage to fear, to secrecy, as a post-abortive woman before I was set free and healed. That guilt and doubt haunted me and followed me,” she says. “I couldn’t talk with people about it for the longest time.”
“Soon after, my message started,” Dr. King continues. “I began to privately state, then publicly state: a woman has a right to choose what she does with her body, but the baby is not her body.” Today she serves as Director of African-American Outreach for Priests for Life.
She draws a parallel to the racism her uncle fought against and the prevalence of abortion in the black community. “Almost one-third of the abortions that occur are done on the wombs of African-American women, yet we’re only about 13 percent of the population,” she notes with sadness.
Alluding to her uncle’s iconic “I Have a Dream” speech Dr. Alveda King asks, “How can the dream survive if we murder the children?”
Facing Life Head-On also highlights Ryan Bomberger, a young, media-savvy leader of the National Black Pro-Life Coalition and outspoken voice for truth in media.
“When I think of mainstream media today, I can’t help but think of one of my childhood heroes: Frederick Douglass,” says Bomberger, chief creative offcer of The Radiance Foundation. “At that time, mainstream media wasn’t telling the truth about slavery.”
“So what did he do? He went and started his own publication, the North Star, because he knew there was an injustice happening and he couldn’t be quiet about it.” Among his many media endeavors, Bomberger writes a national column for LifeNews.com.
“Today, we have a mainstream media whose bias—can you even say bias? It’s complete and utter advocacy of abortion—is transparent.”

“Unfortunately, the public suffers from it because we don’t get the truth about the abortion industry,” he says with passion. “We don’t get the truth about the 56 million who have died since Roe, we don’t get the truth about what abortion does to human lives—not just the unborn child, but to women and men.”

“The mainstream media is supposed to inform, to try to be objective,” concludes Bomberger. The websites he creates offer videos, social media graphics and other tools to illuminate, educate, motivate as The Radiance Foundation states in its mission.
