PNG Women's bank gets top placing in the Pacific


Papua  New Guinea Women’s Micro Bank is the first in the Pacific and the sixth in the world, an achievement which has placed the country on the international stage of banking.
Bank of Papua New Guinea Deputy Governor Benny Popoitai said that during the opening of the PNGWMB’s second branch in Lae last Friday. The first branch was launched in Port Moresby in August last year.
“This place (Lae) is the hub of business in PNG, we already have the biggest port in the Pacific, so Women’s Micro Bank here already have a future in your hand, with the Morobe government support, all the business community need to support this so all our women can be actively engaged in the process of economic development,” Popoitai said.
“Now is the opportune time for you women to catch the boat to be part of the process of economic development.
“You (women) have a bank that is dedicated to looking after your home and your needs and everybody’s needs.” PNG Today/The National
