SAN BERNARDINO >> When the Homewood Suites Hotel opens, it won’t be a “me too” kind of operation.
Its guests receive a full dinner with beer and wine. And they get breakfast as well.
There will be a sports court with basketball net. And the indoor gym will have tread mills, elliptical and free weights, a stationary bike, balance ball and medicine balls.
“We cater to the extended-stay guest,” said Hilary Anderson, general manager of the four-story, 108-room hotel, which is in the final stages of construction at 885 East Hospitality Lane.
The hotel, which is one of the brands under the Hilton umbrella, will open later this month or in early August, Anderson said.
“It’s kind of like having a baby. It will open when it’s ready,” she said.
All rooms have full kitchens, she said.
At another property, Anderson said most guests stay 30 to 60 days, although one stayed more than a year.
The Homewood Suites hotel is owned and managed by TMI Hospitality of Fargo, N.D.
TMI is the operator of more than 180 selective-service and extended-stay hotels in 26 states.
Included is the Hampton Inn & Suites, which at 895 E. Hospitality Lane, is immediately next door.
The Hampton — with 114 rooms — opened in January, Anderson said. It is also one of the Hilton brands.
The two hotels had been planned for years, but were not developed until recently because of the economic downturn, Anderson said.
They are located immediately next door to a Residence Inn Marriott, at 1040 E. Harriman Place and a Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott at 1041 E. Harriman Place.
