Coming Soon: Starbucks Delivery, And "Starbucks For Life" Cards

Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz says the scramble for one of 13 special for-life cards has "the potential to be quite a frenzy."

Starbucks CEO and chair Howard Schultz announced today that the chain would roll out food and beverage delivery in "select markets in 2015."

"Imagine the ability to create a standing order of Starbucks delivered hot to your desk daily. That's our version of e-commerce on steroids," he said on an earnings call.

That's not the only goodie for Starbucks addicts: the company also said "13 lucky cardholders in North America will win Starbucks for life."

It's not entirely charitable, Schultz said. "Customers have been trying to buy Starbucks for life for decades" and "will ignite social media channels to draw customers into our stores and drive significant loyalty into the fly wheel of Starbucks."

And of course Schultz told analysts about the Pumpkin Spice Latte. "PSL did very well for the season," Schultz said. "One of the hallmarks of Starbucks is surprising and delighting our customers with proprietary beverages."
