My name is Antwuan Malone and I am a Young Adult Christian Minister/Mobilizer in McKinney, TX.

DON'T SETTLEis a writing project I began earlier this year. I've been writing since 2003, and I've published two titles. Around 2010. I began blogging at Candid Christianity (www.antwuanmalone.com), and I haven't stopped.

DON'T SETTLEbegan as a way for me to "get back into" writing, since I'd found the love of my life, marry and focused on family. I'd been working on a project that needed finishing, but before I went back to finish it I wanted to "shake the rust" off my writing skills.

But the more I wrote, the more I knew others needed to learn the same lessons I was learning. Writing DON'T SETTLEtaught me how easy it is to miss out on the best thing in life, for the other very good things in life -- things like love, morality, creativity, and family. I'd beentrusting the wrong things to bring me fulfillment. And in so doing, I'd beensettling for a not-so-full life.

I want to help people find the best life has to offer them. Below is a preview of the writing project. Look it over, and consider supporting my efforts to bring this book the Christian masses.

We’re all looking for it – that thing that gives us a buzz or makes us feel alive.

We hope to find that buzz in new cars, new jobs, significant others, our kids, or in some heightened sense of self awareness or creativity. But time and time again our possessions leave us empty. Our careers rob us of life’s precious moments. And people. People tend to let us down.

If we took the time, we could probably list all the things we ever thought would bring us that elusive feeling of aliveness we’re chasing. And on each occasion, we’d see how quickly the buzz faded. Before long the new car became an old car, the new job wasn’t lucrative enough, or challenging enough, or fulfilling enough. And that person we thought we couldn’t live without didn’t live up to the hype. In the end, they’re just not enough.

Perhaps making that list would be good for us. Maybe we’d learn from our past mistakes. Instead, it seems most of our mistaken faith and hope in the things, people, and values that have failed us go unnoticed. Over and over people let us down, possessions lose their luster, and the things we value ebb and flow with our changing worldviews or seasons of life. Over and over again, the objects of our affection prove undeserving of our hope and faith. And yet, over and over again we place our hope and faith in them.

It’s time we got off the merry go round.
