Casco Bay Is at Risk
Casco Bay at Risk is a community forumand a wake-up callon the state of our coastal waters. A panel of experts will discuss changes to the Bay, including coastal acidification, a population explosion of green crabs, and the sudden disappearance of eelgrass beds, an essential habitat for marine life.  Anyone who cares about Casco Bay is invited to join their neighbors at a presentation to the community outlining the latest facts, concerns, and questions.

When: Wednesday, September 24, 2014, 5-8:00 pm
           Doors open: 5 pm
           Presentations: 5:30-7:00 pm
           Reception: 7-8:00 pm

Where: Abromson Auditorium, University of Southern Maine, Portland

Why: Changes are happening throughout Maine's coastal waters. Friends of Casco Bay will draw on more than two decades of data collection and observations by scientists and harvesters to show that changes are happening across the Bay.

Invading green crabs
Dwindling clam populations
Disappearing nurseries of the sea
And what you can do about it
