It’s a long way ahead, but the oddsmakers have already picked a favorite.

The mega fight between Anderson Silva vs. Nick Diaz has an early favorite.

The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion has been marked as a 5-to-2 favorite (-250) over Stockton's own Nick Diaz, who returns after a brief retirement stint.

The early fight odds are courtesy of Bovada.

Diaz, who signed a brand new three-fight contract with the organization, comes in as a 2-to-1 underdog (+200).

Their blockbuster pay-per-view (PPV) battle was announced yesterday (read it) for the 2015 Super Bowl weekend at UFC 183 on Jan. 31, 2014, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The "Spider" has been making a quick recovery after UFC 168, where he snapped his leg in a losing effort to Chris Weidman. It was his second defeat to the current middleweight champion in less than a year by way of stoppage.

The former Strikeforce welterweight champion, meanwhile, makes his UFC return after coming up short in two consecutive 170-pound title bouts against Carlos Condit and Georges St-Pierre. UFC President Dana White said the Californian could fight for the gold yet again with a win over his adversary next year.

It will be interesting to see how many times the numbers shuffle the closer we get to their tussle, and if they still favor the Brazilian.
