Simply Nourish dog treats recalled because of mold concerns

Recalls involving pet foods and other consumables can occur for various reasons, and a recall issued this week by the Loving Pets Corporation is an example of one: the possibility of mold growth in a product.

The company, according to a press release on PetSmart's website, is voluntarily recalling specific packages of their Simply Nourish Biscotti with Beef & Sweet Potatoes Dog Treats because of they could be harboring mold.

The packaging bears the SKU number of 5203800, a UPC of 73725747061 and an expiration date of February, 2016.

No other Loving Pets Corporation or Simply Nourish treats are included in the recall, and no illnesses have been reported.

Consumers who purchased the treats, which are sold exclusively at Pet Smart, are urged to stop giving them to their pets and instead return them to their local retailer along with the receipt for a full refund.

Any concerns that consumers might have regarding their pet's well being should of course be directed toward their veterinarian.
