The thrill of visiting Skagway, Alaska on a Disney ship

Gene Sloan
USA TODAY
Disney Cruise Line guests pan for gold in Skagway like miners from the famous Klondike gold rush. A special visitor, Donald Duck, might even waddle by to share in the gold-panning fun.

What's it like visiting Skagway, Alaska on a Disney cruise? Now you can see for yourself right here at USA TODAY's Cruise Hub.

Part 3 of our new video series on a Disney sailing in Alaska, in the carousel above, offers a look at the options available to cruisers visiting the historic Gold Rush town on the 1,754-passenger Disney Wonder.

USA TODAY Travel got an insider's look earlier this summer at the unique way that Disney is operating Alaska voyages on the Disney Wonder. As can be seen in the first two videos in the series, located here and here, Disney places a big emphasis on bringing elements of Alaska onto the Disney Wonder during Alaska cruises. Everything from youth activities to dining on board gets an Alaska tinge, and even such Disney icons as Mickey and Minnie show up for photos in Alaska garb.

We'll be posting Part 4 of the series at USA TODAY's Cruise Hub on Tuesday.

For a deck-by-deck look at public spaces and cabins on the Disney Wonder, don't miss our related, comprehensive Cruise Ship Tour of the vessel in the carousel below.
