Europeans fear domino effect of Scotland vote

European businesses are not worried about the impact Scottish independence would have on their operations, but they do fear the precedent it could set other nations.

Nine out of ten respondents to a survey said that if Scotland left the UK it would have no impact on them. However, 31 per cent believed that regions in other European countries could follow and 27 per cent said that widespread independence would have a negative effect on their prospects.

The survey, carried out The European Business Awards and RSM International, the accountancy, comes a day ahead of the referendum and amid heated speculation that the Catalan region of Spain could follow suit.
