Share Joy International Haiti Event in Ridgefield on June 11

Ridgefield based, non profit, Share Joy International, (SJI), has been asked by Bonite Affriany, if our generous and loving community can help the center in Jacmel, Haiti once again. After the devastating earthquake that took place in Haiti in 2010, many in this community stepped forward and generously gave. The level of giving  was greatly appreciated by the center in Jacmel, Haiti during a very difficult time. A center that throughout the last 6 years, many from our town & surrounding communities have continued to support in one way or another, including by sponsoring children.

Fast forward six years and the level of support has greatly diminished by all who came to their aid in 2010. However the needs have not diminished.

Please join us this Saturday, 6/11, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m at the Ridgefield Recycle Center, located at 59 South Street where Share Joy International, will be collecting much needed items (please see list below). You will have the opportunity to meet Bonite Affriany, visiting us from Haiti, who not only continues to run the feeding program which feeds around 200 children a day, most their only meal of the day, but has also added a beautiful orphanage that opened up a year ago with 3 children and now houses 20. This number will soon grow to 40. Please see the beautiful picture which shows the grace in which Bonite houses, feeds and educates these children.

Ok, so how can you help? Here is how. On Saturday, 6/11, SJI will be collecting the following items:
  • New or gently used clothing and shoes for children 0 - 2 years old
  • Powdered baby formula to give to individual families so not the huge, Costco size
  • Diapers - this can be Costco/BJ size
  • Carnation Powdered milk or similar brand - this can be Costco/BJ size
  • Twin size sheets (greatly needed)
  • Twin Mattresses, no boxspring. (These are super expensive to ship so please make sure they are in great shape).
  • Towels (greatly needed)

  • Canned foods of all kinds, (no glass please): spaghetti, tuna, salmon, vegetables, fruits, beans, pasta, etc. VERY NEEDED, super appreciated!

Please note: If donating gentle used items, please make sure they are washed and in very good condition as shipping to Haiti is super expensive and we always want to treat them with respect.

From the generosity of Lions Heart we have backpacks and school supplies that are ready to go! Thank you Lions Heart!

Please feel free to drop off items between 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. With any questions, please reach out to Isabel Chase at sharejoyinternational@earthlink.net
