Human remains discovered in a wooded area of Clearlake over the weekend have yet to be positively identified, police officials said Wednesday.

DNA and dental record comparisons will be required to conclusively determine the identity of the deceased person, according to Clearlake Police Detective Nick Bennett.

Police located the remains after a man on Oleander Street reported finding a skull in his backyard. His dog is believed to have found the skull and brought it home, authorities said.

A search of nearby woods turned up additional remains that police believe could belong to the same person.
