26 cars entered for opening round of 2014 ADAC Procar Series

The ADAC Procar Series has its strongest entry in recent years for the opening round of the 2014 season at Oschersleben this weekend, with the first 1.6 turbocharged cars built specifically for the series, as well as a new MINI Challenge class added for this year.

The first round at Oschersleben will see seven cars entered in the Division 1 class for Super 2000 specification cars, with two BMW 320sis fielded for Russian drivers Mikhails Stepanov and Grachev by AMG Motorsport, followed by a series of upgraded cars for the class.

Wolf Racing have developed their own 1.6 turbocharged Ford Fiesta, which will be raced by 25-year-old Heiko Hammel, while 2011 champion and last year’s runner-up Johannes Leidinger returns, now in an LB Racing-run Ford Fiesta 1.6 turbo, with former team Liqui Moly Team Engstler now focussing solely on the FIA World & European Touring Car series this year.

ETH Tuning will also field a Peugeot for Arno Dahm, while teams Dombek and Besaplast will run a pair of MINI John Cooper Works cars in the Division 1 class for Reinhard Nehls and Franjo Kovac respectively.

The popular Division 2 class (for S1600 class cars) sees a mix of cars, from a four-car Ford Fiesta contingent entered by Glatzel Racing, to the two strong Peugeot 207 Sports entered by ETH Tuning, which also field a Citroën Saxo for Andreas Rinke.

There is also a ten-strong field for the new Division 3 MINI Challenge class, added to the series for the first time.

The series again supports the ADAC GT Masters this season with two 25 minute races, the first held at 15:40 CET on Saturday and the second at 13:35 CET on Sunday.
