Always wanted to explore Iceland and Greenland? Here's your chance: Expedition cruise line Lindblad is out with a new, 11-night itinerary that features stops in some of the countries' most off-the-beaten-path areas.

The adventure-travel pioneer will offer a single sailing of the "Along the Viking Trail: Iceland to Greenland" itinerary on July 19, 2015 aboard the 148-passenger National Geographic Explorer.

The voyage kicks off in Reykjavik, Iceland and includes a day sailing along Iceland's wild western frontier, home to the Latrabjarg cliffs and a huge population of razorbills. From there, the expedition-style Explorer heads to Iceland's Flatey Island, a trading post for centuries.

After crossing the Denmark Strait, the ship will explore East Greeland and the Greenland Ice Sheet, with Zodiac landings at the area's Skjoldungen fjord or Napasorsuaq fjord.

Other stops in Greenland include Prins Christian Sund, a major fjord; Nanortalik, Greenland's most southerly town; the Viking ruins of Qaqortukulooq, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; and the Scandinavian-influenced town of Qaqortoq.

Brattahlid, site of the first Christian church in the western hemisphere, also is on the schedule, as is Greenland's capital Nuuk (the world's smallest capital city with just 15,000 inhabitants). The trip ends in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland with a privately chartered flight to Ottawa, Canada.

Fares for the voyage start at $10,580 per person.
