Talking the Talk
“Talking the talk: Persuasive communication for productive initiative and leadership in academic libraries”
Are you looking for ways to *think/talk about* leadership and management concepts in order to "lead from the middle," move up the ladder, or take a higher-level position in a new organization?
How can we learn about and integrate concepts like vision, organizational structure, and institutional alignment into our view of the day-to-day concrete functioning of the library? How do we activate these ideas in "elevator speeches," letters of application, or in strategies for indirect influence in the workplace? Panelists will provide a brief introduction to issues and key ideas that have emerged from their experience and/or from their research, providing the foundation for a subsequent, interactive moderated discussion forum.
Panelists:
•
Robert Farrell
, Associate Professor, Coordinator of Information Literacy and Assessment, Lehman College (CUNY)
•
Dr. Debbie Rabina
, Professor, Pratt Institute School of Information
