Halo: The Master Chief Collection is the next big step in the Halo franchise, not just because it's collecting all of Chief's journey on a single disc, but because of all the extras that it's packing in. One of those extras is the Ridley Scott series, Halo: Nightfall. Today, Microsoft and 343 Industries released the first full trailer for the upcoming series and released some details on a night of festivities set to take place on the eve of the Master Chief Collection's release.

Halo: Nightfall follows the journey of Agent Locke and his crew, as they get to the bottom of a mysterious substance that only kills humans. Locke is set to play a major role in next year's Halo 5: Guardians, with Nightfall acting as his formal introduction to the Halo universe. Nightfall access will come along with Halo: The Master Chief Collection, though the first episode will premiere during HaloFest, which will take place the night before the collection's official release date.

HaloFest will also mark the first chance to see the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta in action, as eSports pros are called in to play a few rounds on Twitch. The festivities will begin on November 10 at 8PM PDT on the Halo Twitch channel.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
