BALDWIN PARK – Officers are looking for more witnesses to a July 4th shooting that left one man injured.

Baldwin Park Police Lt. Doug Parnell said police received multiple reports of shots fired at the intersection of Maine Avenue and Estella Street at 9:35 p.m. Friday.

Officers found a man lying on the street with gunshot wounds to the lower body, Parnell said.

Parnell said the man, a 36-year-old Baldwin Park resident, told officers two men on bicycles rolled up, got into an argument with him and shot him. The suspects then took off southbound Maine Avenue.

But witnesses told police they saw two to three men who ran westbound, he said.

Parnell said officers didn’t find any bicycles.

The wounded man was taken to a trauma center. It wasn’t clear if he was still in the hospital on Monday.

One of the suspects was described as a Latino in his 30s, medium build, 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 180 pounds. He wore blue pants and a black shirt.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Baldwin Park Police Detective Bureau at 626-960-4011, ext. 429.
