The Ford can't be with you: Harrison's injury halts filming of new Star Wars movie

Filming of the latest Star Wars movie has been shut down for three weeks while star Harrison Ford recovers from a serious leg injury he suffered in an on-set accident.

A source working on Star Wars: Episode VII at Pinewood Studios said the crew was informed of the shut down last week.

‘On Friday they told us it would be three weeks. It’s obviously costing the studio millions of dollars.

‘We’ve shot as many scenes as we can without him but he’s pivotal to the movie and the studio has decided to wait for him to be fit enough to return.

'We can’t do any more until he’s back on set.’

Ford, 72, reprises his  role as Han Solo in the  much anticipated  £120million movie.

His left leg was shattered on June 12 when a hydraulic door from Han Solo’s iconic spaceship the Millennium Falcon fell on him during filming at the Pinewood set.

TOM CRUISE’S long-rumoured appearance at Glorious Goodwood’s Ladies’ Day thrilled a modern day record attendance of 23,524 – but one visitor not benefiting from Tom’s presence at the Chichester racecourse was jewellery designer Theo Fennell.

He told me: ‘I just had lunch with Tom but he didn’t offer me a cameo in one of his films. I’m more muscular and way better looking, so I don’t think he’d want me to outshine him.’

Theo sponsored the Magnolia Cup race, won by model Edie Campbell, and Tom handed over her prize.

He's worth £120 million and lives in a stately home on the 13,000-acre Althorp Estate, but Earl Spencer is scrimping on his holidays this summer.

The brother of the late Princess Diana normally holidays in St Tropez with daughters Kitty, Amelia and Eliza, but this year they will be staying at a self-catered home in neighbouring resort Cavalaire-sur-Mer, where everything is a third of the price.

Don’t feel too sorry for him, though: his holiday home, Chateau Bonporteau, has 12 bedrooms, a pool, tennis court and a helipad. Tough times.
