COLUMBUS – State Rep. Matt Lundy, an Elyria Democrat, has announced that $297,056 in state funding has been approved for the Ohio Fuel Cell Coalition at Lorain County Community College to develop local advanced manufacturing projects in fuel cell technology.

‘Strengthening Ohio’s fuel cell industry will allow Ohio to generate power more efficiently and responsibly without polluting the environment,’ Lundy said. ‘I strongly support this initiative, as it will bring new jobs to our community and make Ohio a more eco-friendly place to reside.’

According to a news release, the project’s goal is to promote and increase sales of fuel cell components manufactured in Ohio by increasing information and relationships between manufacturers and Ohio suppliers.

It also said that increase in fuel cell manufacturing jobs will be expected as Ohio’s fuel cell industry grows.

The state funding for the project is provided by Edison Advanced Manufacturing Program which is a competitive grant program that supports the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies to Ohio manufacturers, focusing on smaller firms, non-profits and universities in Ohio, according to the release.

The Ohio Fuel Cell Coalition will provide $335,154 to match funds, it added.
