Mountaineering Map of Ireland

There are many excellent opportunities for mountaineering, hillwalking and rock climbing throughout the island of Ireland, with the rolling hills of Wicklow, the remote summits of Donegal and the rugged and challenging Magillycuddy reeks of Kerry. Galway and Mayo have some of the best hillwalking trails in the country, particularly within the Twelve Bens, Maumturks and Mweelrea mountain ranges.

Many of Ireland’s largest mountain ranges skirt the coast, providing for breathtaking coastal and mountain scenery. There are also spectacular coastal walks, most notably around Killary harbour and Achill Island. Whether you wish to climb Ireland’s highest summit, Carrauntoohil, or experience the stunning views of Connemara, you will not be disappointed. Hillwalkers in Ireland are also more than catered for with several marked routes available for long-distance hikes and shorter routes are identified locally. There are a number of very useful publications available (see: Map Shop) providing detailed descriptions of all varieties of walks.
