Facetime NOT Facebook Leads to Relationships!
YOU ARE CRAZY MAN
THAT IS WHY I DON’T LIKE NETWORKING. IT TAKES TIME. RATHER TAKE TWO MINUTUES AND UPDATE MY FACEBOOK PAGE AT HOME THAN GO TO AN EVENT

How broad are your resources?
What the heck is social currency?
Well it starts with understanding that money isn’t meaning
Success is not significance. Three stages. Struggles, Success and then significance
Ed Gotschall said that 92% of successful people are unhappy
How Broad Your Network is a measure of your real worth. For me a Key measure of a person’s success and overall value is their relationships.
Material possessions such as cars, clothes go away.
It’s the people you know and the relationships you have
Social currency and financial currency go hand in hand
Have strong relationships-people become your apostles and advocates and your business development people.
Here is when social currency becomes most valuable-when financial currency is a little weak and we may be surrounded by worries. What is more important these days. Support or a big house.
People with a lot of social currency will never be impoverished or poor. They will also be rich

NETWORKING IS WORK
YOU HAVE TO BE PREPARED. NOT JUST SHOWING UP
SHOW UP WITHOUT MY CARDS. SHOWUP AT FIVE TO 12. SHOW UP AND SIT WITH MY FRIENDS. NOT NETWORKING. JUST HAVING LUNCH.
LACK OF PREPREATION IS THE NUMBER ONE MISTAKE THAT PEOPLE MAKE WHEN NETWORKING
BIGGEST MISTAKE THAT PEOPLE MAKE IS SITTING DOWN
PEOPLE THINK THAT HEY WILL BUMP INTO THEIR NEXT OPPORTUNITY.
YOU HAVE TO CREATE THE OPPORTUNITES AND IT IS EASY
REMEMBER THAT SUCCESS IS A PLANNED EVENT.
HOPE IS NOT A PLAN
NOT SERENDITY
CLEAR UP SOME MYTHS
HERE’S WHAT NETWORKING ISN’T
IT ISN’T GOING TO AN EVENT AND STANDING BESIED THE BAR WITH SOMEBODY THAT YOU KNOW AND TALKING TO ONLY PEOPLE YOU KNOW
THAT IS PARTYING NOT NETWORKING AND WILL LEAVE YOU WITH THINKING THAT NETWORKING DOESN’T WORK
GOING TO THE AD CLUB IS NETWORKING FOR COMMUNITY VERSUS NETWORKING FOR NEW BUSINESS
“HEY I ‘VE GOT A NEW ACCOUNT FOR YOU.”
“I’VE GOT TOO MUCH BUSINESS. WANT SOME?”
SO HAVE YOU MET ANY NEW PEOPLE HERE TODAY OR JUST TALKED TO YOUR FRIENDS, HOW MANY CARDS HAVE YOU HANDED OUT TO STRANGERS, DID YOU INTRODUCE YOUR SELF TO THE PEOPLE AT YOUR TABLE OR DID YOU JUST DO THE SAME OLD THING
MR MARTINI GUY. THAT IS PEOPLE’S FIRST IMPRESSION OF NETWORKING. AVOID THAT LIKE THE PLAGUE. IT IS A TURN OFF
EFFECTIVE NETWORKING IS ABOUT LESS OF YOU AND MORE OF THEM
THEME HOW TO GET MORE BY ASKING FOR LESS AND DOING MORE FOR OTHERS. OXYMORON
A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK THAT IS COUNTER INTUITIVE OR CONTRADICTORY
HEY I’M NETWORKING TO GET A JOB OR MAKE A DEAL. ITS ABOUT ME-ME-ME . IT’S NOT.

GOING TO DISCUSS HOW TO TURN A BUNCH OF CARDS INTO POWERFUL RELATIONSHIPS
OFTEN PEOPLE RETURN FROM NETWORKING EVENTS AND LOOK AT CARDS A FEW DAYS LATER AND HAVE NO CONNECTION WITH THOSE PEOPLE OR CAN’T REMEMBER WHO THEY ARE.
WHEN I GO TO AN EVENT I HAVE 25 CARDS IN MY HAND AND A PEN TO TAKE NOTES OF THE PERSONAL THINGS PEOPLE SAY
PEOPLE KEEP CARDS IN THEIR WALLET AS IF THEY WERE $20 BILLS. THEY CAN LEAD TO MONEY. CONSIDER THEM FREE E MAIL.
IF YOU AREN’T HANDING OUT 500 CARDS A YEAR DOING SOMETHING WRONG
GO BACK YEARS AND HAVE NOTES THAT REMIND ME OF THE PERSON
MOST PEOPLE HAVE A BUNCH OF CARDS. I HAVE A BUNCH OF CONNECTIONS
E-mail within 24 hours or that week if you can.
Put them in Your Data Base. Mine is 1500 people plus save their business cards in a binder chronologically. Not alphabetically.
Value of a data base. Harvey Mackay says that your contact management program worth more than 401K
Check your notes from their card to follow up their hot buttons or personal touch points
Because you have notes you will remember who they are and not stare at them blankly. It not a bunch of cards now but personal touch points.
Try to connect them with other people that you think they should meet
How would your life change?
Network with your parents past. Old bosses, previous clients, old friends, former coworkers. Remember 3-4 years they change. Visit that old rolodex and reconnect
Reconnect with your past can be very rewarding both personally and from a business perspective.

Ad Guy. Ad people generally like to hang around other beautiful people and be cynical about most things.
Now I meet with people who aren’t that beautiful on the outside but are beautiful on the inside and they have taken me to a lot of beautiful places
We are all different and we are supposed to use our differences to make a difference.
Start networking with different people and see how you life will change. Thank You

ALWAYS LOOKING FOR STUDENTS TO HELP ME OUT IN SOUTH COUNTY
MUST BE MORE SOCIAL MEDIA SAVVY THAN ME
I have been networking for a long time. Long before the great recession started and everybody started networking.
I know when a networking meeting is doing to be a dud because the person I am meeting with isn’t prepared. They have no pen, no pad to take notes and follow up. They are basically networking clueless.
I ask them if they have been to my site and they say briefly. That is a euphemism for no.
I immediately know that it is going to be a one way street. The person just wants me to help them.
Networking isn’t about just showing up. You have to be prepared.
Prior to the meeting you should look the person up on Linkedin. You should connect with them.
You should also print out their Linkedin profile and read it prior to your networking meeting.
This will provide an outline for discussion and mutual touch points.
You should think of people you can connect them with.
The other mistake that people make in networking is not following up.
If you don’t follow up the meeting is basically a waste because you haven’t established a platform for mutual help and connecting.
SOME PEOPLE DO. SOME DON’T.
