This Graphic Explains All the Health Hazards of Sitting for Too Long


By now, you already know that prolonged sitting is bad for your body. But what exactly goes on when you sit for hours every day? This graphic from the Washington Post explains.

While we've noted research before that points out the downsides of sitting too much, this graphic explains in detail how your body is affected. From organ damage and muscle degeneration to foggy brains and higher mortality risk, it's not a pretty picture. The graphic offers some solutions, such as sitting on an exercise ball chair, stretching your hips three minutes per side every day, and, of course, switching between standing and sitting throughout the day.
