Three people suspected in the theft of a bait car were arrested Wednesday, according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.Joseph Nicholson, 37, of Logan County and Martin Billings, 38, and Vanessa Garcia, 35, both of Southwest Oklahoma City, were arrested on complaints of grand larceny of a motor vehicle.Officials with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office said it has been using GPS trackers to attempt to make an impact in the number of stolen trailers, tractors, farm implements and automobiles for over two years. The GPS tracking devices are attached to the equipment or vehicles and send immediate messages to the sheriff’s office if they are moved.At 1 p.m. Wednesday, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office received an activation alert from a bait car indicating that the car was moving. Deputies remotely stopped the vehicle and made contact with Nicholson, Billings and Garcia who were later arrested.Investigators said the program has been successful in the past recovering a stolen trailer that resulted in asset forfeiture of the vehicle used.Crime footer
