Well my first watch was a casio watch that I was gifted by my uncle back when I was around 12 years old. It meant a lot because we didn’t have access to stuff like that and we didn’t have the money to buy a watch. I wore it everyday,it meant a lot to me, I loved it and still do. That’s the story of my first watch.
My first watch was actually a Waltham pocket watch. My father gave it to me years ago with a Caterpillar watch fob attached. I still have it 30 years later and will give it to my son when the time is right.
In 1981 and shortly after I graduated from high school I purchased my first watch it was a Seiko diver style watch, wore that watch on my left wrist everyday, all day for 22 and a half years! There is no embellishment here. I sent it in every 5 years or so for a cleaning and adjustment and that’s it! How many bands did I replace? I couldn’t tell you how many bands and band pins I replaced on that watch. It went with me everywhere through my youth to middle age. It is truly like an old friend – the things we had done and the things we had seen – death, destruction, sea depths, high altitude, girl friends, wives, marriages, divorces, child birth, child graduation. Incredible! The day the jeweler told me it was wore-out and could no longer keep good time was the day I put it in my safety deposit box. I bought the same model watch the next day. It has been on my wrist, ticking away, since June, 2000 – just as faithful as my old friend who now lies resting after a long and storied career.
When I was young I really loved browsing watches through magazines that my old man brought home, I never had that much interest in wearing one though – just enjoyed looking at them. About 4 years ago, I got my first wrist watch from my hard earned money. A Wenger Swiss Commando; it looked cool and military inspired so I got it, it never left my wrist since then. I has been with me through mountains, beaches, caves, countless vacations and to the office – every once in a while I inadvertently forgets it at home and my wrist feels blue without it. 🙂
My first watch was a swatch watch i was six and got it for making my communion. It was green case and had black straps. I remember a little while later discovering you could change straps and from then I was hooked. I think out of the watches I have only one has the original strap (only cause its part of the watch)
Mine was a black swatch with a yellow/lime green dial and it had cross hatching on the strap. I loved that watch and remember chewing the strap to death! I had it for years but lost it in various house moves.
Puuuh… My first watch. I cannot remember when. But it was definitely an vintage Casio digital watch. My grandpa was always wearing this kind of watches. And still he is 🙂
My first watch was a gift to me when my father married my step mom a few years after my mom passed away. They got me a Timex, i believe, it had a simple silver case and a brown leather band. I wore the watch all the time, though being 7 I barely knew how to care for it. My step mom used to fix watches at a jewelry store so she helped me. One day i had fallen at the park and the glass had cracked. So I left the watch in its box for the remainder of its lifetime. Last time I saw it was in my parents basement but they have since moved.
I wasn’t much of a watch wearer until a few years ago my sister recommended I wear one and got me one for Christmas. It was a timex leather bound watch and I really loved it. I have really enjoyed wearing watches since then and never take it off. I would love this piece
My first watch was an old mens wind-up I found in one of my Great Grandmother’s many junk drawers. It had a smelly old brown wrist band which she cut a new hole in for me; it still wouldn’t stay face up. I don’t recall the brand, but it was a knicked up stainless steel watch with a heavy yellowed glass domed face, which I eventually broke. And like this watch it simply told time. One wind before bedtime.
My first watch was a Casio, probably a f91-w. We went to visit some old friends of my parents who handed me a present. I unwrapped it to find a pair of shorts, which I proceeded to model for them. They asked me to reach inside the pocket, which I did, to find my first watch. Much more exciting than shorts!

My first watch ever was a toy watch that my mother bought for me in a small convenience store in S. Korea. It was a watch that also had a small compartment for delicious fruity bubble gums. It had a button that opened up the face of the watch, and voila – you had juicy treat for yourself. Regardless of the gum, I fell in love with the watch and I would say that I fell in love with the art of wearing watches ever since then. After my parents saw how much I loved wearing that watch, even after I finished the gums, my father bought me a small, yet multi-functioning, digital watch by Dolphin.
Many moons ago, Sears & Roebuck published a Christmas Wish List catalogue. I was six and I saw a doll that came with a plastic watch. I didn’t know how to tell time but I just had to have that watch! On a snowy Christmas morning I tore open the gifts searching for the one present I wanted. Yes! There she was. I stole the watch from her arm, went to the back porch and threw her into the backyard to die a cold powdery death. My obsession hasn’t ended and it probably never will.
I was given a LED watch as a schoolboy in the 1970’s. It just had a black face and, to see the time, you had to press a button on the side of the watch and the digital time was displayed in neon red! I thought it was so cool and I was the envy of my school friends!
My first watch was a Swatch Irony Quartz Chrono. My father bought it for me when I turned 15 and told me to take care of it. It’s been through a lot and is pretty beat up. I wore it through my military service, and backpacking across the world. When my father passed away I wore it to his funeral. Since then my passion and collection has grown, but the little Irony still gets it’s fair share of wrist time.
My first watch was a Rolex submariner a.k.a Hulk which I received from my mum as my 21st birthday present.. Sadly, I didnt know how to appreciate watches at that time and thought Rolex was for much older people, boy was I wrong! Fast forward a few years later, I am soooooo into watches now and I’m really fortunate to have a “Hulk” by my side all these years!
My 1st was a digital given by my grandmother when I was 8 or 9. I don’t remember the company/model. I was going to a small school & was the only student (of my class at least) with a watch & always knew how much time was left to the recreation.
My first watch was a G-Shock my parents bought me for my 14th birthday. I beat the hell out of the thing- rock climbing, kayaking, playing frisbee, just about anything I did that watch was there. I still have it and it still works, albeit the colors have faded and it’s scratched and doinked enough to look twice it’s age. I’ll always cherish it for the memories I’ve made while wearing that old plastic Casio.

My first watch was on a road trip to Belize to visit my family that I had not seen for 5 years! So on our way to the border we stopped at a Walmart and my dad was buying watches for my uncles and I had always saw my dad wear a watch so I asked him for one and he said, “son your starting to grow up” and he bought me a timex for 10 dollars when I was 10. Of course that was 7 years ago and I’ve long forgotten what happened to that watch but now I take horology a bit more serious and I have my own watch page on instagram! My first watch was one purchased my my mum when I was around 10 years old. This was a watch that was advertised as waterproof and I would regularly go swimming with it on. Being waterproof I assumed it could be worn in the shower so I did this regularly until I noticed that there was water in the screen. I took the watch to be repaired and was told that the heat expanded the metal and the water seeped in this way. After this I cherished the watch and never wore it in the shower again
My dad once told me that every men should own a watch, a luxury timepiece to be exact. A watch reminds us of how precious time is.
Ever since I was a kid, I always dream of owning a luxury watch. I can’t wait to grow up. Today, I am a owner of a watch website and I want to thank my dad for being an influence for my current endeavor.

White dial background and a drawing of Hoppy riding his horse. For a kid that loved the TV show at that time it was a wonderful gift. I can’t remember what happened to it… but I wish I still had it.

On my 18th birthday, a bunch of my friends showed up at my house, blindfolded me, and took me to a fancy restaurant. After taking off the blindfold and helping me slip on my paper “Birthday Boy” hat, they surprised me with my first watch. It was a Citizen stainless-steel watch. I eventually wore it to my high school graduation. Additionally, beyond the materialism that comes with receiving a nice watch as a present, this watch represents the true friendships that I have continued to keep since high school, as well as the stories and experiences gathered through that stage in my life.
My first watch was a Looney Tunes musical watch. My parents bought it for me when I was about 9 or so in the early 90’s for getting good grades in school. I believe it came from the Warner Brothers studio store in the mall. If you pressed a little button on the case, it would play a little tune. I believe the characters on it were Foghorn Leghorn and Henerey Hawk. I can still smell the leather band now when I remember opening the box. One of the smells ever. This effectively began my love of watches.
My first watch was a James Bond 007 watch. No, not the Rolex Sub but a manual wind cheapo that had pull out scope complete with cross-hair in the sight. It was very large and it had 007 prominently displayed on the front. The strap was a red and black striped Nato and it was just great!
My first watch was given to me by my grandfather, it’s a Hamilton Illinois (1st use of Illinois, after Hamilton bought the Illinois watch company in the 30’s and used Hamilton Illinois name in 50’s) that my grandmother gave him for Christmas 1954! I was honored that he gave it to me and I’m proud to wear it today and will pass it down to my daughter eventually.
