Family sues Chevron in mesothelioma case

The family of a mesothelioma victim is suing his employer over toxic exposure.


Mae Angelle and children Mark Angelle and Terry Angelle filed a lawsuit April 14 in the Jefferson County District Court against Chevron U.S.A. Inc., citing gross neglect.



The lawsuit states Mae Angelle’s husband, Joseph Angelle, was employed by Gulf Oil/Chevron in Jefferson County. He was exposed to toxic materials including asbestos dust and fibers, developed mesothelioma and died Aug. 20, 2012, the complaint claims.


The Angelles are seeking exemplary damages in excess of jurisdictional limits of the court.


They are being represented by J. Keith Hyde of the Provost & Umphrey Law Firm LLP in Beaumont.
