It sucks to be a cyclist in this town.
Less than a month after reporting the news that the Simcoe bike lanes were being used as a parking space by motorists, the freshly pained bike lanes are once again in the news for misuse. This time, a film crew has decided to use one of the lanes to park their trailers.
On nearby Adelaide, the bike lanes that were unveiled this morning were apparently a hit with truck drivers who used them to park their trucks while making deliveries.
What’s worse is that the film crew in question tried to stop any word getting out about their misdeed. According to a tweet by Global’s Jackson Proskow, his cameramen were being physically prevented from taping the illegally parked trucks by the film’s crew. After venturing over to Adelaide, Proskow tweeted out an image of a delivery truck parked on that street’s bike lane.
Those tweeting about the incidents on Twitter were noticeably upset.
By the time I arrived to check out the scene, however, it seemed like like the police had told the film crew to move their trucks. Still, you would hope that drivers and film crews alike would know better than to park on a part of the street they’re not supposed to.
