Group hints it has evidence of Cruz's infidelities

Barely a week has passed since Anonymous threatened to ruin Donald Trump's presidential campaign, and now, the hacker collective has taken aim at Texas Senator Ted Cruz, another candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in the 2016 election.

The video was uploaded online on March 15 but has only recently been noticed, after both Twitter and YouTube took it down a couple of times.

In the two-minute YouTube clip, the usual Guy Fawkes-masked figure appears and launches a warning, telling Senator Ted Cruz to drop out of the presidential nomination race or the group will release data they've found on his "secret" activities.

The group hints that they're in possession of evidence that the extremely religious Texas senator is visiting prostitutes on a regular basis.

The masked figure also says that they're aware that Sen. Cruz has also been stealing votes. "You have committed voter fraud to steal votes that do not belong to you. The fraud you have committed against Mr. [Ben] Carson will not be tolerated," the voice on the video explains.

Has Anonymous become a smear tool in the US presidential race?

For the moment, the video's authenticity cannot be proven, since anyone can make these types of videos, sign up for a Twitter account, and then launch the video on the Interwebs, claiming to be part of an "open" hacking group such as Anonymous.

There are currently no mentions on regular Anonymous forums and IRCs that the group has been busy hacking into Mr. Cruz's personal life, and all of this seems to be just a smear campaign.

What is known is that Anonymous seems to have something against Cruz's rival, Donald Trump, which many factions of the group have attacked in the past, and are now planning a massive DDoS campaign for April Fools' Day.
