LG's G Flex Wins Gold Honors At The IF Design Awards

If nothing else, the LG G Flex seemed destined to win scores of design awards from the moment the company released the first official render of the curved-glass Android smartphone. This week, the phone made good, snagging one of 75 gold awards at the 2014 IF Design Awards.

The iF judges praised the G Flex for its “high level of innovation and convenience-oriented design features.” In addition to the G Flex, LG also scored honors for its flagship G2 smartphone, as well as its Ultra HD Television.

“LG has put much emphasis on becoming an industry leader in product design,” said Dr. Scott Ahn, LG’s chief technology officer in a press statement. “To achieve this, R&D works very closely with design from the onset. Our philosophy is to incorporate innovative designs into our products in order to evoke an emotional response and increase the intimate relationship between our products and consumers.”

Aesthetics aside, the LG G Flex is nothing to scoff at. The smartphone is powered by a 2.26 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, with 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The phone comes running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but if you absolutely need to have KitKat, there are several custom ROMs that’ll get you there with a modicum of tinkering.
