About Our Artists

We want to thank our Artists for donating their time to do this Benefit Concert.

Johnny Showcase & The Lefty Lucy Cabaret, brainchild of Philadelphia theatre artist David Sweeny, is an electrifying experience. An 8-piece absurdist soul outfit based in Philadelphia, it is an innovative, joyful tour-de-force that blissfully toes the line between performance art and a psychedelic soul revival. Carrying the torch of funk-rock pioneers like Funkadelic and Frank Zappa, they have gained a massive following and propelled Johnny to something that of a funky Philly folk hero legend.

Birdie Busch - Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter Birdie Busch has one of those voices that draws you in on the first phrase and breathes you out at the end of the record. Busch and her slightly funky, sometimes quirky, and always-relaxed backing band blow through 11 slices of East Coast humor, pathos, and earnest observation that treat the word "pretense" as if it never existed.

Chris Kasper (playing solo and acoustic for this show) is an American songwriter with a style rooted in folk, rock and blues. His music has been compared to everything from Paul Simon to Beck, and draws on inspiration from musical greats such as Bill Withers and Levon Helm. With 25 years of playing under his belt, Chris’s unique storytelling and lush arrangements, combined with his studio artistry, set him apart as a standout artist of this generation.
