Newell Rubbermaid Acquires bubba brands, inc.

Newell Rubbermaid, which operates in the promotional products industry through its subsidiary, Downers Grove, Illinois-based supplier Sanford Business-to-Business (UPIC: SANFORD), has acquired the assets of bubba brands, inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of In Zone Holdings, Inc., for $83 million, subject to customary working capital adjustments.

WorkflowOne Parent Company Releases Third Quarter Financials

Standard Register (UPIC: SF00001), parent company of industry distributor WorkflowOne, reported revenue of $219.4 million and a net loss of $5.6 million, or $0.65 per share, for the third quarter of 2014. For the same period in 2013, revenue was $199.4 million and a net loss of $23.2 million, or $3.92 per share, was recorded.

Imperial Headwear Opens Showroom In Midtown Manhattan

Imperial Headwear, a division of Bourbon, Missouri-based supplier Paramount Apparel International (UPIC: AMER0034), has opened a new showroom in Midtown Manhattan.

U.S Economy Picks Up Steam In September

The U.S. economy continues to strengthen, according to the Conference Board’s Leading Economic Index (LEI) for September. The LEI for the U.S. increased 0.8 percent in September to 104.4 (2004’s economic index is the baseline at 100), following no change in August and a 1.1 percent increase in July.

PPAI L.E.A.D. 2015 Applications Close Thursday, October 30

This is the final week to submit an application for PPAI’s Legislative Education And Action Day 2015. PPAI members and staff will meet with senators, congressional representatives and their legislative staffs on Capitol Hill May 20-21, 2015, to discuss pending legislation and issues relevant to the promotional products industry. PPAI will provide L.E.A.D. participants with appointment-setting support, research on Members of Congress, position papers for appointments, L.E.A.D. day support and pre-event briefing sessions. The application for participation is due no later than October 30. PPAI will notify applicants of their participation on December 15. Regarding any questions about the application, contact PPAI Government Relations Manager Seth Barnett.

Michael Bannister has joined the sales team at Markham, Ontario-based supplier Crystal Sensations (UPIC: Cryst769). Bannister brings 20 years of experience in sales and client relationship management to the role.

Innovation Line (UPIC: INNOV8) has brought Dan Pigott on as a new sales rep at the Culver City, California, supplier. Pigott has 25 years of industry experience and currently serves as the incoming president of the Philadelphia Area Promotional Products Association. He will represent the supplier in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.

SAGE Announces 2014 Supplier Rating Award Winners

SAGE has announced its 2014 supplier rating award winners. Each year, SAGE presents industry suppliers with A and A+ rating awards based on distributor ratings collected from SAGE Online and SAGE Mobile. For 2014, 964 suppliers received the top ranking of “A+,” while another 472 suppliers received the second highest rating of “A.” A total of 35 percent of all suppliers in SAGE Online received an award this year.
