Dear Pastor,
I wanted to personally let you know about a local event I am speaking at that will interest you. I speak at lots of conferences and in churches and I have been watching a trend that deeply concerns me because it is shaking the importance of the church. An increasing number of our most gifted young Christians are choosing not to go into local church ministry and are choosing instead international NGOs, local social agencies or even local, state or federal politics. Propping up these choices is a theology of the kingdom that goes directly contrary to what the kingdom means in the Bible. Alarmingly, kingdom theology is becoming an alternative to church theology.
Missio Alliance and Northern Seminary are hosting a morning conference to help launch the new book I have coming out, Kingdom Conspiracy: Returning to the Radical Mission of the Local Church. I wrote this book especially for church leaders like you and the entire focus of the book is to show how kingdom mission is local church mission. Amid the turmoil we are witnessing across the evangelical landscape, I'm convinced it's an important time for us to engage in some significant (re)thinking together about the relationship between God's Kingdom, God's Mission, and God's Church.
I would like to gather together to begin a very serious conversation about kingdom mission in our day, and I hope you can join us.
