HMRC has issued an apology to payroll professionals for RTI problems experienced over the weekend.
High volumes of RTI date were generated on Friday ahead of the April 19 deadline for PAYE submissions.
As a result HMRC says that any submissions sent after 11pm on Sunday evening will be processed as normal, while those sent prior to this may generate a delayed success or failure message.
The Revenue has requested that people that did experience problems should not call HMRC about the issue or delay in sending submissions and only resend if a failure message was received.
An HMRC spokesman said: “We are sorry if you, or your clients or members, experienced problems trying to send PAYE RTI submissions, or other returns, over the weekend.
“The problem arose due to issues with the Government Gateway, which led to delays in sending our normal ‘success’ and ‘failure’ responses and, in some cases, to multiple responses.”
