"Synchronised shakas... because that's just how we roll in Australia! Kyle Taylor had absolutely perfect timing to capture this incredible photo in Byron Bay. He was out for a swim as the sun was setting and saw some breaching whales start to come closer towards him… but when he stuck his hand out of the water he had no idea that a whale would show it’s whole tail like this at the same time. And just like that, an unexpected moment was captured forever!"

Turquoise waters, a beach lined with old VW combis, good cafes, and a growing farm-to-table food scene lend the little surf town of Crescent Head a distinctly bohemian air. "Last year's breakout star was undoubtedly Halcyon House on Cabarita Beach in northern New South Wales, a 1960s surfer crash pad motel that has reemerged as a startlingly bold new boutique hotel. Channelling a dormant nostalgia for the simple Aussie beach holiday and then elevating it with charming touches (passionfruit ice cream on arrival!), Halcyon House delights in delivering sophisticated simplicity. Designer Anna Spiro's largely blue and white decor and walls filled with a French hang of ephemera might at first glance seem to owe more to Capri or Cape Cod than Cabarita, however, one look out the window to the pristine headland dotted with pandanus and the storied surf break rolling onto a stretch of almost-always empty golden beach, you realize you couldn't be anywhere else but Australia." -David Prior

"The warmer weather has heralded the arrival of more tiny paws at Taronga Zoo in Sydney. This little guy is named Baxter and he’s already begun chomping on eucalyptus leaves and exploring the trees from the safety of mum’s back. Visitors can meet Baxter and his friends at Taronga’s Koala Encounter, where they learn more about one of Australia’s most iconic species and how they are under threat from urban development and forestry breaking up their natural habitat."

"Sunset in Byron Bay is always spectacular and on this evening we captured it just as these pasture-raised Scottish Highlander cows were being herded on the farm where our restaurant Three Blue Ducks is. What makes the place unique is that it’s a genuine working farm where people can connect with the food they're eating by walking around the grounds and seeing where it’s grown. Today, The Kimberley is posting dispatches from their astonishingly remote location: 'The magnificent King George Twin Falls on the Kimberley Coast are an absolute must do. Accessible only by a Kimberley cruise vessel, the falls are a staggering 340 feet high. In this image, you can see the "Lady M" idling up to the left hand falls. "Early morning laps at the Bondi Icebergs pool. When I first moved to Sydney as an art student, I’d start my day in one of the ocean or harbour pools. There are so many in Sydney but the iconic Icebergs is the supreme ocean pool in my humble opinion. Swimming here is like being in a Slim Aarons’ shoot. Cheap public pool entry at $AUS6.50 for adults – this is egalitarian Sydney at its best!"
