Domino’s Pizza Sports Appetite For 5,000 New UK Jobs

Domino’s Pizza is to go on a massive expansion plan which will create around 5,000 new full and part time jobs all over the UK and Ireland.

An average of 100 new jobs will be created at 50 new Domino’s Pizza outlets at various UK and Ireland locations as appetite for their products shows no sign of slowing down. The expansion will see the chain edge closer to 1,000 outlets in the UK and Ireland by the end of 2016. By the time recruitment is finished over the next twelve months, Domino’s Pizza will employ around 35,000 staff in full and part time roles across the UK and Ireland.

Almost a third of the new vacancies will be pizza delivery driver jobs with around 1,500 positions to be advertised by Domino’s Pizza in 2016.

The popular pizza chain puts a lot of their recent success down to a combination of more people ordering takeaways for big sporting events and a surge in usage of their smartphone mobile app which accounts for almost half of their online orders.

Operations Director for Domino’s Pizza in the UK, Scott McLeod, said: “We have seen continued healthy growth in the business this year, with like-for-like sales up by over 14 per cent in the UK and Ireland in the third quarter. Our digital ordering now represents 77pc of our delivered sales with nearly 50pc made on our app.”

The Brazil World Cup last year was a huge success for Domino’s Pizza with orders on match days boosting their sales by an average of 10 percent. In the Uruguay game which England lost 2-1 to leave them on the verge of elimination, sales at Domino’s Pizza were up by almost a quarter.

With all of the home nations qualifying for Uefa Euro 2016 next summer, the chain expects to sell an extra seven million pizzas during the tournament. Likewise, the summer Olympics in Rio next August will also see a similar boost, leading Domino’s Pizza to forecast that it will deliver an extra 15 million pizzas during the three months of June, July and August next year.

To cope with the extra demand for their products next year, Domino’s Pizza will open an average of 4 new outlets every month allowing it to create thousands of new jobs for UK and Ireland.
