The record for the largest successful Indiegogo campaign has been set not by a famous filmmaker or plucky upstart business, but by fans of craft beer. In July, the California-based Stone Brewing Company announced its ambitious plans to open a $25 million facility in Berlin, Germany, launching an accompanying campaign on the crowd-funding site Indiegogo: Brewers stressed that the campaign was not a fundraiser, but instead "an exclusive presales event" for an upcoming line of special collaboration beers.

Currently, beer drinkers have pledged $2,512,375 (breaking the previous Indiegogo record of $2.48 million), pre-purchasing everything from $30 1.5-liter bottles of beer to $300 cases. The beers won't be available until Stone Berlin swings its doors open, tentatively by late 2015. Meanwhile, fellow crowd-funding site Kickstarter also saw its most-funded record broken this week, as the Coolest Cooler raised more than $10.3 million.
