LOS ANGELES (CNS) – An aide to Los Angeles Councilman Bernard Parks was working at home today after being arrested in connection with an attempted robbery at a Hesperia smoke shop, according to media reports.

Kearia Latrice Brown was booked into the Adelanto Detention Center April 11 for suspicion of robbery and also harboring, concealing or aiding a principal in a felony after the fact, according to inmate records. She was released Saturday on $100,000 bail, a San Bernardino County sheriff’s spokeswoman said.

Brown’s 32-year-old husband Jermaine was arrested with Sterling Ghoston, 25, after fleeing into a neighborhood following the armed robbery of a smoke shop in the 17200 block of Main Street in Hesperia last Friday, according to the Victorville Daily Press.

Kearia Brown was arrested later that day when detectives served a search warrant at the Browns’ Adelanto home, the paper reported.

ABC7 reported Brown is an aide to Parks. Parks’ website lists Kearia De Luna as his aide for special event invitations. ABC7 reported De Luna is also known as Kearia Brown.

Parks issued a “statement regarding an employee,” not mentioning De Luna or Brown, which sidestepped the criminal issue, calling it instead a “personnel matter.”

“We have been made aware of the situation and are currently evaluating the circumstances,” the statement said. “It is our policy not to comment on personnel matters.”

Brown is now working at home as a result of the arrest, ABC7 reported.
