A Whittier College student was injured Wednesday after she was hit by a car in front of the school, Whittier police officials said.

Around 11:52 a.m., the woman was crossing outside of the crosswalk on Philadelphia Street from the north corner to the south corner of Painter Avenue, Officer Brad White said.

Before the woman crossed the street, a car was pulling out of a parking lot off of Philadelphia Street and was traveling westbound when the female driver hit the woman, White said.

“(The pedestrian) jetted out (onto the street) and got hit by the car,” White said.

White said the walker was at fault.

The woman complained of leg, shoulder and head pain and was transported to a local hospital.
