Tavern on the Green: Slimmed Down and Softened Up

Next week, Philadelphia-based restaurateurs Jim Caiola and David Salama will reopen legendary Central Park establishment Tavern on the Green as a market-driven New American restaurant with a menu from chef Katy Sparks. The Tiffany glass and crystal chandeliers of the old Tavern have been replaced by earth tones, dark wood, and puffy red and green banquettes. There are no white tablecloths here.

Tavern on the Green 2.0 will open for dinner on April 24, and brunch and lunch are slated to roll out in mid-May. Here's a peek at the space and the menu:
