Purdue punter and former CD East standout Cody Webster is one of three finalists for the Ray Guy Award, given annually to the nation's top punter, the Augusta Sports Council announced yesterday. Memphis senior Tom Hornsey and Texas A&M sophomore Drew Kaser rounded out the field.

Webster leads the Big Ten and ranks 19th nationally in punting average (43.5), while leading a Boilermakers punt unit that ranks third nationally in net punting (41.5). He's downed 22 of his 65 punts inside his opponent's 20-yard line.

Webster, a four-year starter for Purdue, ranks 11th nationally in career punting average (43.0) while attempting the second-most punts (227) in school history.

Webster was a four-time All-Mid Penn Conference punter at CD East and received first-team all-state honors as a sophomore and senior. He also played defensive back, quarterback and wide receiver for coach George Landis.

The Ray Guy Award has been given to the nation's top punter since 2000. This year's winner will be announced on the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN on Dec. 12.
