A Chiswick 5 minutes with…Annie’s Restaurant

My regular blog feature interviewing some of the people that help make Chiswick such a fab and interesting place to live.

Next up is Lorraine Angliss, the woman behind Annie's Restaurant on Strand on the Green.

How long have you been in Chiswick? I have lived in Chiswick for around 20 years now and Annie’s has been a household name for 12.

Favourite place to unwind here? Walking along the river in the beautiful sunshine. We’re so lucky to live in such a pretty area of London, so take advantage!

What's your top local tip? Visit the glorious parks in and around Chiswick, there’s lots of greenery nearby including the beautiful Kew Gardens

And what's your hidden gem? Nothing gets better than Annie’s Restaurant, offering a lovely and charming atmosphere for an award winning breakfast or a romantic candle lit dinner with friends, family or loved ones.

Vacation or staycation? Living in London we don’t get much of a Summer so I like to have a hot holiday for some vitamin D from time to time, but otherwise I love the Winter, the cold months and feeling warm and cozy inside next to the fire is absolutely delightful.

Tell us about your day job, in a nutshell? A nutshell? Well this might be difficult. I am the owner of three successful restaurants and I feel blessed to have some of the most loyal fans in the area; my job is to make sure that anyone who visits them experiences great and tasty food, blow your mind cocktails and impeccable service.

Apart from this, what other hats do you wear? Apart form running the business I am also a Mum. I love my family and spending time with my 21-year-old son is bliss (well most of the time!).

Is your glass half full or half empty? I hope and I try to keep it half full at all times and although difficult I think I’m a very positive person. Keeping perspective is paramount and a long walk a long the river can often help.

Secret talent: I’m an amazing cook! You should pop round for dinner one day!

Philosophy on life? Sometimes you have to be kind to others, not because they’re nice but because you are.

Best tip for visiting restaurants with children? Don’t. I’m joking, I suggest a child friendly one, with a good children’s menu and really really good colouring book.

Quick fire answers:

Date night or family meal – Family meal

Starter or pudding – Pudding, but don’t tell that to the scales!

Something new from the menu or old favourites – Can’t go wrong with the classics

Visiting a restaurant – treat, or every day essential…- Both, and can be good fun
