STRANGEST PERSONAL Injury Claims Electrocuted Robber A bar owner named Jessie Ingram installed an electrocution trap around the windows of his bar to prevent theft. His bar was broken into anyway by a man named Larry Harris. He was under the influence of drugs and alcohol and he ended up electrocuting himself. The court fined Jessie a sum of $75.000. Cookie Anyone? Two teenagers in Colorado were sued by their neighbour after they baked cookies for her which she said was a terrifying experience. The teens baked cookies for all of the neighbours and left them on the doorsteps. This neighbour ap- parently didn't appreciate the ef- forts and called the police and claimed the incident caused her to have an anxiety attack. Adhesive Explosion Two carpet layers in Ohio (1988) named Gregory Roach and Gordon Falker were burned when an adhe- sive container exploded because a water heater was kept next to it. They received $8 million in the lawsuit. Seatbelt Dilemma A woman named Karen Norman accidentally backed her car into an estuary and drowned after she was unable to unbuckle her seatbelt under the influence of alcohol. The court found her carmaker Honda to be 75% responsible and she was awarded a compensation of $65 million. Hot Coffee A girl named Stella ordered a hot coffee from McDonalds back in 1992 and spilled it all over her leg when she attempted to add sugar to it. Her coffee was hotter by ap- proximately 190 degrees and she suffered third degree burns. She was compensated $6,00,00o out of court. McRat Burger A $17.5 million lawsuit was filed against McDonalds in June, 1999 when Ayan Jama partially ingested a burger with a rats head in it. The food item was said to be complete with the rats eyes, nose and whis- kers intact. Depressed Thief A man named Richard Schick sued the Illinois Department of Public Aid for sexual and disability dis- crimination in 2003. He then went on to rob a convenience store and claimed that he did it under de- pression. The court sympathized and awarded him with a settle- ment. Uncooked Finger? In 2005, Anna Ayala and her hus- band Jaime Plascencia added a severed finger into the chilli dish Anna bought at a California loca- tion of Wendy's. Jaime bought the finger from one of his co-workers for $100 who lost it in an accident at work. They then filed a false law- suit and officials declared that the finger did not seem to be cooked at temperatures high enough as those that chilli is cooked under and there were also no traces of saliva. The husband and wife were then sentenced for 12 and 9 years respectively. Fear From T.V. Show A man named Austin Aitken sued T.V. channel NBC for $2.5 million after he claimed that a particular episode of the show Fear Factor made him vomit and run into a wall after he sae participants consum- ing rats ground in a blender. He said his blood pressure rose imme- diately after the scene and he lost sight of his surroundings. The case was dropped by the court. Grand Washroom Trip Cedrick Makara sued Newmark Realty after he injured his thumb while using the bathroom that did not have a doorknob. He was trying to exit when another person pushed the door open from the outside and he suffered injuries that requires surgery and was unable to work for 6 months. He was awarded $3 million.
