Joining the trend of corporates setting up incubators to tap into the startup ecosystem, Dell Services is starting an application-testing incubator program for firms operating in the space of security, mobile, and Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications.
The program, Dell Services said, will connect entrepreneurs to Dell’s application testing services. Three startups will be selected for incubation in the first phase. The program will also cover testing-as-a-service and crowd testing.

As developers and testers collaborate to work on problems, testing is no longer done insolation. GitHub is an example of crowdsourced development.

“For Dell, this program will help us explore ways to strengthen our service offering to improve cycle time and quality, and pass on cost reductions to our customers,” said Dhiraj Sinha, executive director, application testing, Dell Services.

In 2000, the hardware company had set up an incubation center in United States. This is the first time Dell is doing it in India.

The chosen startups selection process can connect with Dell’s technology evangelists for advice and consulting, and get help in creating their Intellectual Property (IP), to enhance their business.

The two-tier selection process includes an in-person discussion with startups that register, followed by a presentation to the Dell Testing Innovation Steering Committee.
