Sean Penn spotted at popular Cape Town tavern

Cape Town - Award-winning actor Sean Penn has been spotted hanging out at Cape Town institution, Dias Tavern.

City Press reports the Hollywood star turned heads as he sat in one of the humble tavern's leather booths.

When Dias Tavern staff asked Penn why his girlfriend, Charlize Theron didn't come with to South Africa, Penn reportedly fired back asking, "Who said she didn't?"

Penn and Theron were first spotted together in Hawaii in early January and have become a regular sighting since, including being spotted with Theron’s adopted toddler son, Jackson - and most recently near Augrabies Falls.

Alayne Reesberg, chief executive officer of Cape Town World Design Capital 2014, was at the restaurant for a business meeting and described the actor as charming.

Penn is said to be in Cape Town to scout locations for a new film and was accompanied by local filmmakers. The details of the upcoming production have not been revealed as yet.

Dias Tavern has been a firm favourite with visitors from all walks of life since 1988 and it is well know for its unpretentious decor and reasonably priced food.

While Penn didn't reveal any snaps of his peri-peri chicken or chocolate mousse ordered at Dias on instagram, we did find this.

As Penn says in the Caption, "With this picture, I bust my Instagram cherry. Gonna try to share snaps of our @jphro work in #Haiti and the country and its amazing people. In this shot, I'm walking where 60  000 people lived in tents after the earthquake. We've got 58,000 back in homes... It's a start."

J/P Haitian Relief Organization is an organisation founded by Penn and began working to make a meaningful and lasting impact in Haiti following the tragic earthquake of 2010. For his efforts Penn was named Ambassador at Large to the nation of Haiti on January 2012/.

Here Penn says,"Some smart person is gonna discover the real Haiti some day..."

And here he reveals a Haitian women in all her unfettered splendor.

And this lucky fellow from Cite Soliel seems to have been given a hat from Penn's ex Madonna... too cute!
