The Official Doctor Who Festival Is Coming To Australia In November

Australia’s finally getting its first official, BBC-sanctioned Doctor Who festival. You’ll have to wait until November, though, to see the current Doctor, Peter Capaldi, as well as show-running genius and lead writer Steven Moffat. Oh, and start saving your pennies — it’s not cheap.

The first official Doctor Who Festival will hit Australia a week after it runs in London, and will open at the Hordern Pavilion and Royal Hall of Industries in Sydney on Saturday the 21st of November. Running until the Sunday 22nd November, the show will have stage talks and Q&As, photo opportunities and workshops, as well as a huge display of props and memorabilia from the long-running and much-loved TV series.

Although it’s a “must-attend” for Doctor Who fans according to BBC Worldwide, tickets for the Festival aren’t exactly cheap. A general admission single-day ticket will cost $195 ($99 concession) — that’ll get you entrance to the exhibition, as well as three separate theatre shows to hear from the cast and show writers. If you want the full experience you’ll be shelling out $365 ($265 concession) for the TARDIS ticket, which includes every feature of general admission plus priority seats to theatre shows and “exclusive access” to a TARDIS lounge with two free drinks and a Doctor Who goodie bag.

Tickets will almost certainly sell like hotcakes, of course, so if you want priority access when they go on pre-sale on 1st July at 11am, head to the Doctor Who website and sign up for early access. Tickets will be available to the general public on general sale on 6th July at 11am.
