Dark Light

It was to be expected, but Project CARS contains a lot of, well, cars. Here’s a low-down of what’s coming…

When Slightly Mad Studios and BANDAI NAMCO announced that Project CARS would be subject to delay upon delay, they didn’t just shrug their shoulders and say “Hey, it happens in development!” – the stand-offish developer/publisher response we’re used to. No, they decided to apologise to the fans by bundling with Project CARS – either at release, or drip-fed after the fact – additional free cars for the gaming public to enjoy.

Were these freebies not being proffered as a please-don’t-hate-us apology (are you listening, Ubisoft?) then there’s every chance we might have been paying for the additional cars as part of an additional DLC pack. Fair play to the team behind Project CARS for cutting into their profit margin – even if it is only slightly – to try and make it up to the fans. Of course this is purely speculation, but it’s a nice thought to hold on to, isn’t it?

Anyway, to the cars:

Free Cars

Free Car #1 – W Motors Lykan HyperSport
Free Car #2 – ???

So the Lykan HyperSport is the first of the ‘apology cars’ from Project CARS, with a tantalising place-marker for ‘free car #2’ over on their website. We’re far more excited for the likes of the Ford Escort RS1600 in the ‘Retro Touring’ class than any of the hypercars, but that probably speaks more to our age and proclivities than the awesome list of cars on offer…

Project CARS Escort RS1600

Project CARS is out this week – on Friday May 8th – for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Wii U, and is available to order from Amazon now.
