Johanna Long may soon be competition for NASCAR female driver Danica Patrick. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is thinking of expanding his team and adding Johanna along to it. Johanna is seen to have potential due to her race history. At the age of 19 in 2012 Johanna was the youngest female to compete in an Xfinity series race. In the year of 2010 she won the Snowball Derby, a race held in Pensacola, Florida. Ever since Johanna lost her sponsorship in 2013 due to ML Motorsports shutting down, she has been unable to secure a sponsorship in the Xfinity series races. The Xfinity series races are one step below the Sprint Cup series, the races in which Danica Patrick competes in.
By the age of 21, Johanna had 43 Xfinity starts and 24 Truck series starts. She was previously signed on with Mike Affrano Motorsports, a start up team, and was suppose to compete. Johanna was scheduled to run in an Xfinity race this year in February but did not get certified in time. She again hoped to run in April but did not make it past the qualifying round. Since both are female drivers, Danica Patrick and Johanna Long are compared to each other often, but feel they are very different. Patrick started racing at the Indy Car level. Long start racing stock cars at the age of 14. Johanna Long hopes to go and compete with Danica Patrick to become the 1st female to win a Sprint Cup Series race.
