Wolves escape enclosure at Mesker Park Zoo
Mesker Park Zoo was on lock down Wednesday afternoon while officials worked to capture escaped wolves.
Zoo officials said three Mexican Gray Wolves escaped. They told 14 News that the last one was captured a little after 4:30 p.m.
Abigail Adler, with the zoo, said the wolves dug a hole and slipped out of their enclosure. Two were wolf pups and were easily lured back in with food. The other, an adult male, took some coaxing.
Adler said zoo employees practice for instances like the one that took place on Wednesday. 14 News was told that everyone responded as they should have.
Visitors waited out the recapture by taking shelter in a number of buildings, like Amazonia and the Kley Building.
Zoo officials said the wolves did not shown aggression and never left zoo property.
