It is said that, on seeing this statue at Samyé in Tibet, where it was made in the 8th century, Guru Rinpoche remarked, 'It looks like me!’

This is the only known photograph of the statue, which has been colorized. Unfortunately, during the cultural revolution the statue was destroyed, but several have made it a special calling to closely re-create it, through modern technology. 1;X 2;X
