41HBOFl79yL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_ Tell us something unexpected about yourself!

My parents are from Trinidad, I have a twin sister, and I'm currently a purple belt in Tae Kwon Do.

What kind of books do you write?

My published book is a Young Adult novel. I also wrote a 12 book children's series about Tae Kwon Do, and a sitcom pilot with my twin sister.

What inspired you to write?

I wanted to write on a topic I hadn't read about from my main character's (a teen celebrity) perspective.

What makes your writing stand out from the crowd?

My writing stands out from the crowd because even in dramatic situations, I manage to accidentally inject humor into it. Some people read my work and find things funny that weren't supposed to be. 🙂

What is the hardest part of writing – for you?

For me, the hardest part of writing is remembering to have an outline with a proper sequence of events and keeping timeline issues sensible.

Where do you like to write – what is your routine?

My favorite place to write is on my bed or couch. I like writing really late at night because it's less noisy and less people around.

What do you do when you are not writing – do you have a day job?51+wHweKYdL._UX250_

When I'm not writing, I teach Tae Kwon Do to kids ages 3-11. I'm a brand ambassador for a major car company. I'm also an actress, model, and singer.

Do you work with an outline or just write?

I learned that outlining is mandatory no matter how much I tried to fight it. Just writing is fun but it won't be publishable without an outline.

What advice would you have for other writers?

Outline, try writing in different genres, support other writers, and have more than one cover to choose from before publishing the final product.

How important is marketing and social media for you?

Marketing and social media is very important because it brings awareness quickly to people that may otherwise know nothing about me or my book.

What's your next step?

Beta readers, people who have simply heard the plot of my book, have asked about a sequel, series, and a movie version. It'd be great to have this book turned into a feature film.
